‘90 Toyota Corolla, Brake Fluid Leak Inside the Car
Q:
I have a ‘90 Toyota Corolla that is leaking brake fluid on top of the brake pedal. The fluid is leaking from somewhere under dash. The car stops normally and occasionally I put brake fluid in.
A:
It sounds as if the brake master cylinder in your vehicle has a leak in the rear of the master. If your vehicle doesn’t have power brakes, the brake master cylinder is bolted to the firewall of the vehicle. If the seal in the rear of the master cylinder fails brake fluid will drip into the passenger compartment. Because the brake pedal is directly under the master cylinder, it would only be logical for the brake fluid to show up there.
