A Caravan of Lemons!
Q: Please help! There are four of us who own 89-91 Dodge Caravans- they’re all lemons!!! Spring is here and we need to purchase a reliable used vehicle. We love the design of the Caravan, i.e. snub nose, flat back-you know where your vehicle begins and ends; two removable seats; turns into a cargo van-excellent visibility; windows all around. Any helpful tips on buying used mini-vans? Models? The children are looking forward to going to the beach and the mountains.

A: Hey, have you thought about a Plymouth Voyager? Yeah, they’re built a lot like those Dodge Caravans with a snub nose, flat back-you know where your vehicle begins and ends. They come with removable seats, great visibility with windows all around! In fact I own a ‘93! I added extra leaf springs to the rear suspension so I could load it like a truck and pull campers and boats twice what the vehicle is rated for. I load that van so much that the shocks and struts need to be replaced almost every year. Boy I’m I thankful for lifetime warranty shocks and struts! To put it simply, I beat the daylights out of that rig and it is showing no signs of quitting even with 150,000 miles on it. It’s also great at the boat launch, I would never think of backing my new GMC Suburban into the water. Who makes or sells the greatest and most reliable? Beats me! I’ve seen the best do the worst and the worst do the best. Whatever vehicle you buy used, be sure to have it checked out by your technician. After all you wouldn’t want to be buying a vehicle after I’m done with it. I wasn't much help, or was I?
